Refer & earn

Share your referral link or code. A developer you refer gets $5 off their first top-up of $10 or more, and after 25 qualified referrals you earn 12% in cash of each referred workspace's usage during its first 6 months.

A beta program

Refer & earn is a beta. It may change or close at any time. The Affiliate Program Agreement sets its terms, and it governs wherever this page and the agreement differ.

Your link and code#

Every signed-in user has a referral link and a code from their first visit to Console > Refer & earn. There is nothing to join: copy the link and share it.

The link accepts the usual campaign tags, so you can tell your channels apart in Refer & earn:

    Use it for
Where the click came from: a newsletter, a site, a social network
  • utm_medium

The code works on its own too: a developer who signs up without your link can enter it as a promotion code at Stripe Checkout on their first top-up.

What the developer you refer gets#

$5 off their first top-up of $10 or more, applied at Stripe Checkout. It is for new developers: a new account and its first workspace through your link, or a workspace that has never paid entering your code. Existing accounts, members invited to existing workspaces and workspaces that have already paid are never referred.

When a referral counts#

A referral qualifies once the referred workspace's first top-up of at least $10 is paid and is not refunded or disputed. Refer & earn shows your clicks, your referrals and which of them have qualified.

What you earn#

  1. 1.Reach 25 qualified referrals. Commission builds up from your first referral, locked; it becomes payable only once you reach the threshold. If you never reach it, the locked commission is never paid.
  2. 2.Connect a Stripe payout account in Console > Refer & earn. You accept the Affiliate Program Agreement at this step; no commission is paid without it.
  3. 3.Earn 12% in cash of each referred workspace's paid usage during its first 6 months. Usage paid for by the referral discount or by promotional credit does not count. Rates can differ for some partners.

Commission on one referred workspace

commission = rate × paid usage in the first months

rate
12%, or your own rate when you have one
paid usage
what the referred workspace paid for usage during its first 6 months

For example, a referred workspace that pays $200 for usage in its first 6 months earns you $24.

Payouts#

  • Held first. Each commission is held for at least 90 days after it accrues, against refunds, disputes and fraud. Your first payout comes no sooner than about four months after your first commission.
  • Monthly, on the 1st. Available commission is paid through Stripe Connect to your payout account, in USD, when at least $50 is available. A smaller balance rolls over to the next month.
  • Reversals. Commission on an amount that is later refunded or disputed is reversed.

How a referral is attributed#

Attribution is first touch. When someone opens your link, the dn_ref cookie remembers it for 45 days in that browser, and the first referral link a browser opens is the one that counts for that time. If they create their account in the same browser within 45 days, the referral is yours. The Cookies Policy describes the cookie. A workspace is referred once, to the first referrer recorded, and never moves to another.

A different device or browser, cleared cookies or an edited link can lose the click. The code at Stripe Checkout still works in those cases.

Changing your code#

You start with a random code and can replace it with one you choose, up to 3 times in 30 days. When you change it:

  • Your old link and code stop counting new clicks at once.
  • Clicks made before the change still count for you for their 45 days.
  • The released code is free for anyone to choose again. Clicks made after someone else claims it count for them.
  • Referrals you already have stay yours. A referral, once made, never moves.

The rules#

  • No self-referral and no fake accounts. Referring yourself, your own business or accounts made to qualify ends your participation.
  • Describe the offer as it is. The developer you refer gets the discount above; promise nothing else on our behalf.
  • A beta. The program, its rates and its threshold may change or close at any time. The Affiliate Program Agreement has the full terms, and you accept it when you connect your payout account.
